The Speckled Loon was founded by Grand Forks, ND resident Susie Bommersbach. Susie and her husband Todd purchased a small lake home to renovate. Susie wanted to decorate the place with all the cute wood signs and art pieces she was finding online, but she had a very limited budget. She decided to teach herself how to make the items she wanted. After their lake cabin was complete, neighbors and friends wanted her to recreate many of the items for their lake homes. Thus, Susie B's Crafty Cabin Designs was born in 2015. The name was changed to the Speckled Loon in 2019. 

Susie began with painting custom wood signs, then expanded to other product lines including novelty drink-ware, accent pillows and more. She also recently started hosting sign painting parties using her exclusive designs. Todd and other family members are a great help to this growing small business.
