Chris Armbrust, owner of the Nome Schoolhouse, has been running her full fiber processing mill for 17 years. She embarked on the renovations of the Nome Schoolhouse in 2018, as she needed to expand her mill. The processing mill now resides in the lower level of the completely renovated Nome Schoolhouse. The schools 37,000 sq. ft. allows Chris to host retreats, classes, events and more. The Schoolhouse has an onsite hotel, restaurant, bar, event space, classrooms, retail store, camping as well as a renovated 125 year old barn that houses the fiber education herd. All the products are made entirely onsite and they are sold retail as well as wholesale. Chris offers tours of the mill so folks can see how yarn is made and the process that all the products the Schoolhouse sells go through. The onsite herd allows Chris to educate folks on where different types of fibers come from. It is awesome to be able to see the fiber on the animals and intereact with the herd.
