Founded in 2021, GYS Gourds is an independent art and design studio operated by a husband and wife duo. We focus on turning naturally grown gourds into beautiful home décor.

Our journey began while wintering in Arizona and joining a local Gourd Club. We learned from two wonderful ladies all the techniques needed to create beautiful gourds. We also attended a gourd festival hosted by a nearby gourd farm. 

While my husband manages the cleaning, wood burning and carving. I focus on the structural design, and intricate painting to bring out the unique character of each gourd. Our highlighted technique is fractal burning. Which is a form of pyrography which burns intricate lightning-like or tree-like patterns into the gourd. Together we have been handcrafting our one-of-a kind pieces for five years. We have been doing local vendor shows throughout ND. We are excited to become part of Pride Of Dakota.
