State Capitol to host Pride of Dakota Day

Post Date: Mar 14 2017

North Dakota businesses will transform the statehouse into a shopping mall for locally made products, Wednesday, March 15, during the annual Pride of Dakota Day at the Capitol.

“Pride of Dakota companies will be selling and sampling unique products such as gourmet foods, art, books, jewelry, clothing, home decor and much more,” said Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring. “It’s an opportunity for Capitol visitors and state employees alike to shop for high quality Pride of Dakota products and to meet the people who make them.”

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Capitol’s Memorial Hall and Legislative Hall on the first floor.

Goehring also encouraged Capitol visitors and employees to take in the special Pride of Dakota lunch being served by the Capitol Café, featuring products made by North Dakota companies. The featured companies are: LaVonne’s Cheesebutton Factory, Baker Boy Baking Company, Cloverdale Foods, Butcher Block Meats, Jumbo’s Sloppy Joe Mix, Space Alien’s BBQ Sauce, Pinch and Pour Fine Oils, and Jack’s Steakhouse.

Admission is free and open to the public. Parking is available on the east and south sides of the Capitol building. Visitors must pass through security at the south or east (judicial wing) entrances to enter the Capitol.

Administered by NDDA Marketing and Information Division, the Pride of Dakota program is celebrating its 32nd anniversary this year. It provides member companies with cooperative marketing and promotional events, such as in-store demonstrations, Pride of Dakota Day and the Harvest and Holiday Showcases. The program also provides educational opportunities and representation at regional, national and international marketing expositions. More than 500 North Dakota companies are Pride of Dakota members.
