I work in various media: silk painting, curing clay, torched metals including copper, handmade felt, crea-stone, alkyd oils, and water media. This work is sometimes fine art, as well as functional and non-functional for personal, home, and gifts. These may be: felt runners, small indoor and outdoor wall hangings of clay or crea-stone, small collages and painting, or silk scarves and ties.

My approach to art, whether through words, colors, or lines, is influenced by a continuum of wisdom and experiences beyond mine, found in the shapes, shadows, and tensions of the land, people and a sense of the universe. In ongoing efforts, I attempt to express the resistance between lines and colors, causes and effects, and conflicting philosophies. In this work, art seems best expressed beyond reality.
Work that brings a thoughtful response is a primary goal. There is hope that each viewer finds within the art an experience having a personal context. Exploration employs various materials, from which I hope to achieve a coalescence and personal expression. Occasionally work progresses toward an end that may not be realized until a series has concluded. |
